ETFO Takes Action on Violence in Schools

The informational video below outlines reporting procedures for violence in schools and provides an important introduction on the legal requirements for reporting a violent incident.

Forms:

Members are able to use this form to report a potential or existing hazard that he/she believes poses a health and safety risk for workers in the workplace. This form should be completed by the individual member and submitted to the principal or site supervisor. The procedure for addressing the concerns noted on the form are outlined on the last page of the document.

When there is a accident or incident in the workplace, members should be completing an EIR. The EIR is submitted to the school administration and is then shared with the Board. Members are encouraged to keep a copy of any EIR they may submit. If a member requires medical attention or suffers loss time as a result of the injury of illness, a WSIB report should also be completed. It is preferred that the EIR be completed within 48 hours. Please contact the Local for support if you have completed and EIR.

When there is a accident or incident in the workplace as a result of violence or aggression, members should be completing an EIR-A. The EIR-A is submitted to the school administration and is then shared with the Board. Members are encouraged to keep a copy of any EIR-A they may submit. If a member requires medical attention or suffers loss time as a result of the injury of illness, a WSIB report should also be completed. It is preferred that the EIR-A be completed within 48 hours. Please contact the Local for support if you have completed an EIR-A.
