The Role of the Steward

Duties

  • Make available to the staff the local/provincial constitutions, newsletters, & bulletins, etc.
  • Inform members of the availability of special assistance at the local and provincial level for professional problems
  • If a member is ill,  welcomes the birth of a new child,  adopts a childor has a death in the family, inform the Goodwill Chair.
  • Participate on the school staffing committee
  • collect forms,  cheques, sign up slips (where necessary) and forward to the ETFO Halton Teachers' Local Office

 

SUPPORT YOUR FEDERATION BECAUSE YOU ARE THE FEDERATION!

Meetings

  • Attend or have an alternate attend allSteward's Council Meetings,  and General Meetings
  • Attend emergency meetings which may take place

Promote

  • Promote the ETFO Halton Teachers' Local  by talking about what your Local does for the membership
  • Encourage members to discuss changes within our Local and in public education
  • Encourage members to air concerns, and inform them how they can address their issues
